Lost Dog Search & Rescue

Search or Scent Dogs are not used in every search but in the event a scent dog is used please follow these rules otherwise the search might be ineffective 

If you have a situation where there are multiple dogs in your home and one of them escapes and you are going to use the help of a search dog to locate your missing pet do not, Do Not I repeat DO NOT! bring out your other dog to help. Its unlikely you have a scent article in your home for the scent dog with just one scent on it and the scent or search dog will follow the stronger scent and more than likely it will be the companions dog scent that will be stronger. If you do not want the help of a search dog then by all means use the companion dog to help you recover your lost pet but once you use your other dog chances are the search dog will not be able to pick up the scent they need to track. So think carefully before you make your decision..

ALSO:

DO NOT, bring an article of the lost dog (IE; dog bed or blanket) out to the search area if a search dog is going to be used. The scent of that article will drift through the area and the search dog will NOT be able to pick up on the lost dogs true trail
